Without the gasket the lid drips, and replacements are hard to come by. If you want to leave at half five, you're not brewing coffee in the morning, and that's exactly where the plan falls apart the second time round. At about 15 and 16 centimetres in diameter, these are standing jugs, not driving jugs, and even the nicest holder in the centre console won't change that. The coloured versions are powder-coated, and after three seasons in the boot the first dings show up wherever the jug has knocked against metal. For that it's too heavy, too big and too expensive for a feature nobody needs at home. It earns its keep when the vehicle is where it stands and when kit is part of the deal anyway. If you spend two hours polishing a wing, you're not putting anything on painted surfaces that slides or leaves rings. For many people YETI means double-wall stainless steel, and that's exactly what the Silo isn't: it's built from impact-resistant plastic, the same material as the Roadie cool box. That makes it light and practically indestructible, but it costs cooling performance. Ice lasts a show day in the Silo; in the stainless steel jug it lasts longer. If you don't know that, you'll be disappointed when you unpack it.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eThat makes for a simple decision. If you're carrying water and the jug is going to be carried, hung up and, at some point, dropped all day, go for the Silo Jug. If coffee goes in in the morning or the ice has to last overnight, go for the \u003ca href=\"\/products\/yeti-isolierkanne-rambler-jug-2-0\"\u003estainless steel insulated jug\u003c\/a\u003e, which can be filled hot up to 85 degrees.
